OK, I'm curious. I've heard the excuse "I don't want to stare at a guy's ass for xxx hours," several times. Personally, I could care less what gender you play, but this excuse I don't totally understand.
Yes, I know a lot of guys like to look at girls (virtual or otherwise), but what I don't understand is this: Am I the only one who doesn't look at my toon at all? I tend to be looking where I'm going and watching out for baddies when I'm running. I'd think I'd have a tendency to run into great big mobs and hillsides if I was staring at my toon's butt all day.

I tend to play zoomed in pretty close for the whole behind the person view.
Most of the time I don't look at the screen itself, just dots and if I can tab a creature to attack. Then I'll look. Soon as I figure out where I'm going, auto run and away we go!

Most males in the game are fugly. I dunno, but I want a character that doesn't just play well, but looks good too.
If the necro didn't have the hunch, I probably would've gone male with my main.
It also seems that the female characters get a bit more variety in their gear (appearance wise).
Ah well...
And as far as the getting hitting on stuff, it doesn't happen all the time, just the few times it has, it's been disgusting.
The two girls I know IRL that play this game have all male chars while all the guys I know IRL play female chars. A bit odd...

As an actual female with 4 female characters I really haven't had any trouble, though I may be so used to it from previous games that I've learned to ignore it a lot. I've probably had more warriors run up to me with their /dance than I actually remember. I've had 3-4 guys approach me / flirt with me but they were all mild-mannered. Nothing crude. Guess I'm lucky. Of course, I don't draw attention to myself by running around with my clothes off or constantly doing my ele dance in town either.

I'm a guy, and Ive got a male ranger, male mesmer, female monk, and female ele... funnily enough the ele is the only one thats been hit on . but u just ignore them, cos it doesnt really cost you anything, and if they get a laugh out of it, sweet as.
if they whisper you repeatedly /addignore.
i pretty much presume every female character in the game is a guy, and then am pleasantly surprised if it turns out im wrong actually, i'm rather surprised at the proportion of girls who play this game. most others i've played has had either been very few girls or just that they never mention it
the character specific emotes do help/hinder in this matter, tho. like eq 2 had a generic dance (it was funny tho ) which was jumping up and down and waving your hands in the air.

I'm a guy as well, I play a male warrior (huge black dude), a male mesmer, a male monk and a female ranger, the only reason my ranger is female, is because the males were just too damn ugly. In all the hours I've played my ranger I've only had one incident with someone being annoying (and it was coincidently right after I had gotten the 15k druids armor), the guys just kept moving up to my ranger doing the warrior /dance. I pretty much just ignored him though.
That being said, I hope that Anet see things from you ladies' side and will temp ban the blokes doing this if you actually report it.

I've played all races, sexes, aliens, robots, you name it, and having done a bit of writing over the years goes hand-in-hand with character development. Nonetheless, this is my first attempt at online gaming, having selected GW as a fun and economical thing to do with my kids and grandkids.
At any rate, I sat my little ranger chick down under a tree, went AFK, and came back to find her being seriously propositioned by some warrior. WTH to do now? Called the only kid left at home and said "Help! My toon is about to be violated! What do I do?"
She thought it was a hoot, and went out laughing, after offering the following advice. "Now you know how it feels, Dad, YOU figure it out!"
So I just popped my toon into another zone. I'll bet no one hits on my new necro parked over in pre-searing. I have her designed to look like a wicked stepmother from an old Disney animation.

All my characters are male. I don't like playing female characters for some reason. I guess I just like to pretend that I am my character. And I think all my characters look pretty cool. Most of the time when I'm in a party with people, I tend to ignore them for the most part. Saves me a lot of time. Unless I get in a particularily chatty group, then I get dragged in and end up making a bunch of friends. Male or female, doesn't matter to me. Not like I plan to flirt with anyone while playing. Most of the PMs I receive are from when I used to do Forge Runs, people still whisper me because I did them free. Every now and then I'll get a few PMs asking for a run, or asking a general question. I stopped doing runs, though, but I do enjoy answering questions. Never had a female flirt with me before, though.

I have x2 male, and x2 female's.
I have had my N/E female first, I mean seriously, would you rather play staring at the back of a girl? or a guy? I did, however, get sick of being called a girl...
So my second charry was a male. He eventually got deleted cuz I didn't like him. My third charry though, was another male. (W/Mo, bout to get deleted lol).
Then I created another male, this one was a Me, and I think the male mes looks cooler, so I chose him.
Then came my monk... not only do the females look cooler, I longed for the day I was staring at a chick again. lol. Who cares if they think I'm a girl, at least I'm happy.
